Choreography By Lucy Powell

It was such a strange experience to be at a dance recital in St george last night and Lucy was one of the teachers and not the dancers. But it was an experience i really enjoyed and was just as proud and delighted to see the routines as when Lucy herself was in them. It was so fun to watch the little girls and see how much they loved Lucy and see her with them.. It made me really miss having little three year old girls or so in there pretty little costumes do there little routines. So freaking cute! I sat there thinking about how fast time goes and thinking of when Lucy was in her first ever recital at that age. She was so proud up there on the stage for the first time and had a huge smile on her face. Then i remembered her last ever competion in Utah when she won state with the minerettes. This time she was holding that state trophy and doing the ugly cry. lol. For Lucy she took dance all the way and what a way to end competions. And for her its still not done of course. With her second year of Rebelettes coming up and her Rockette summer camp in New york this year at radio city. She still has a few more years of dance in her. She has been the only minerette from her senior year to contine dancing. And now teaching also while dancing herself and going to full time college. (one of her fellow minerettes has just become the drill coach for brighton hs tho and thats wonderful also and weve so proud of her). But anyway back to the studio she teaches at. Her kids did amazing and she was so proud of them. This upcoming year they are having her teach a bunch of competion teams in Jazz, Tap, Lyrical and Hip Hop so shes going to be really busy. But i know shed also have the time of her life.
The above picture was of the director and the teachers of the studio. Lucy wore her black five inch heels in case we couldnt see her i guess, lol, You can spot her easily even tho the picture didnt come out very well.

You can see Lucy sitting up on the edge of the stage doing the arm movements for the little boys hip hop class she does. lol. They were so cute and seem to love jumping around and spinning on there heads, lol.

This was another class, a girls hip hop class. She also taught an older girls class hip hop, and a jazz class and then she had two little girls she taught solo competion for this year. Both girls have done great at competions this year so far and have been wining queens and first places. They are the Southern Stars and those of you in slc and involved in dance will understand there part of the Stars competion teams. They have there nationals in Las Vegas end of June and Lucy will travel with them for that event. Im sure they will do great.

Thanks for letting us share this evening with you Lucy. Cant wait till next year and see what you do with the competion teams. It was a really nice break to get out of the valley and down to St George again. The weather was wonderful and im getting very spoiled staying at the Marriott everywhere we go. We had a great time.
