Just some updates as ive had quite a few emails asking the past week or so. First Cory. He is doing great since his surgery and although still hurts to lift his arm up on his left side it is doing good. He missed five weeks of school and was able to get all his classes caught up expect one. But because it was a very valid reason hes been given the next quarter to catch that one up on so that is good. He saw his heart surgeron (who did his lung surgery) a few weeks ago and he said his xrays looked great. Although we kinda wanted him to do the right side just so we wouldnt have to worry about it every doing what the other one did, he said at this point and time its not medically needed. The blups are there in the right lung which created the problems with the left but they are very small. Yes they could pop and collaspe his lung but he feels the risk at this point and time is very small. So we are going to hold off. He can never suba dive or sky dive as the pressure could make them pop but he said other then that he should lead a normal life and if they do pop then they will do surgery on the other one. He suggested he give us names of heart doctors both in Hawaii and London for when we travel there with him just in case needed (dont scare you huh?) but said it would be very rare if something happened. So we are just not going to worry about it at this time and carry on with our lifes. (and get his last surgery paid for, lol).
Okay now onto Lucy. It wasnt easy for Lucy to walk away from everything in college and after comming home and doing a lot of soul searching and talking to her drill teacher (who totally wanted her back) she decided to go back and give it a try. She feels like she needs to at least go back and finished the quarter. I spoke to the apts and they moved her room away from the living room so she can hopefully sleep if parties are going on in her apt. They also said if she wanted to change apts in Jan she can. She is thinking right now she wants to try and do another semester there from Jan to April and get the first year finished at least but it depends how now till end of Dece will go. Its scary letting her go back knowing whats all around her, but what can you do? You cant wrap your kids in cotton wool and never let them live. Ive never liked the way a lot of parents wont let there kids leave home till there married, its just way too much control that i know i certainly wouldnt have wanted from my parents so why would i do it too mind? It seems very large here in Utah to do that but im happy my kids all have there own minds and i hope that they are mature and smart enough to stay away from the evils of the world without neeeding to stay tired to there mummys apron strings. So we are putting out trust in Lucy that she will stay away from the things she knows she should. It took a strong person to walk away from it last week and we hope that she can do what she wants to do which is do her classes and enjoy her drill team. (they go to Hawaii in feb for a week). Her drill teach Kori is an amazing person and has taught the team for 16 years and has seen everything there so is aware of ours and Lucys concerns and has promised to help her deal with it and take care of her in anyway she can. Its nice she has a good person there that she looks up to so much that will watch out for her. Although she has grandparents that live in St George she is not close to them so wouldnt ever want to contact them if she needed anyone so im glad she has Kori and we would certainly get in the car 24/7 if need be. So yeah weve scared but you have to let them go and learn to live life for themselves and we have always said we would support our kids in anything they choose to do in life and that we will always do. Shes not the first one to have to be around this stuff in college and she wont be the last.
So thats the updates on Lucy and Cory. Life is always crazy and busy at our house thats for sure.
