Our medical office where i have worked has finally moved to its new location. Its been forever coming. Mainly thanks to our wet weather and the people not being able to pour the parking lot. It was promised to be poured in April. Well it was finally poured a week ago. Moving was everything we though it would be. Hell! But did go as best as it could. Wednesday at work was packing everything and i mean everything up. Its amazing how much stuff a medical office with six doctors and 25 total staff has. I mean weve pretty small really. It was amazing to see how much went into the move. Thursday was the moving day. We had six huge truck loads that came over to the new building. We all stood like little soliders with our maps and in turn took the first people coming in with a load and took them to which area or room they needed. We all had jeans and the same t shirt on to make it easier for the movers. It all run really smooth which was amazing but did take from 8.00am to 6.00pn that day., Some added stress was added when a huge truck from a steel company lost its load outside our office, with about 12 huge steel plates bigger then a minivan falling onto a minivan with people in. Myself and Kathy were witnesses and just started screaming. OMG! We ran over there with some of the MA and Dr Fillmore and luckily the two people inside walked away. There van had no windows but other then glass cuts they were fine and very very lucky. I shudder to think what could have happened had it been a car or an open jeep like Heathers. Anyway the door went fast but we were all totally exhausted. Friday was unpacking day. UGH! With 30 exam rooms and a surgery room and six doctor rooms and all the other rooms that go into making our office. Lots of work. Add that to having IT and Phone people under your feet all day doing there stuff so we can work on monday. UGH! Big thanks to the many Reps that brought in breakfasts, lunchs and treats to keep us going. But anyway we will be open for business monday morning. Ready or Not. Anyone in the area stop by and see our State of the Art building. Its breathtaking. Really! Its very classy and has all art work by Jason Christensen. You may have seen his work at the slc airport. His pictures are amazing. Hes also the husband of our Margie at work. He has made our office look amazing. And of course the leaflets on the wall have Carole and Leland on the front page, lol, with Dr Fillmore.
Upstairs is not done yet but should be by end of sept so they say. lol. Our office takes up half the first floor on the east side. The other half is a pain management doctor, PT and xray and u/s and one day an urgent care. Upstairs will be a sleep lab, OB/GYN, Peds, Ortho, a Cancer unit and Dr Hamblin our foot doctor and myself will be moving up there. Right now im in the room off of reception but its very small, upstairs i will get a nice office to myself. I will still eat downstairs with JMA but due to budget reasons with the big house in west valley (granger medical) because of the job i do i have to be upstairs. Dumb i know but they make all the rules. The doctors faught hard to keep me in there pod but the two big bosses at granger refused everything they came up with. Ive accepted it, what happens will happen, and who knows with granger it could certainly change again. lol. It is certainly going to be strange moving to this huge place when we have been used to being in such a small building. I have spent ten years in that last place. Some of my happest moments and some of my saddest moments have happened there. It was there i learnt my mum had passed away. But change is good and its a move in the right direction for us all. Long term, next phase is building a medical strip along the side of us where move doctors from granger will move in. Then after that they want to build another building the same as our new one in the back of us and fill that up. We are the largest physican owned company in Utah. Besides us there granger medical of course in west valley and our Riverton office that was built in 2007. We contine to grow. Theres not a medical need you could have that one of our doctors couldnt treat you for, we have them all. I hope we dont lose our closeness, i also worked at the big house (granger) for 18 months and i didnt like it as much. Jma has always been very close knit and very much like a family. We stick by each other, we laugh together, we cry together and we look out for each other in every way possible. We have a bond with our patients that other offices dont have. We love all of them and we cry together when one of them passes away. (not because of anything we did, lol lol). So i hope we can all keep that closeness with each other and our patients because its whats made us such a great clinic. We work so well together that it reflects in the care we give our patients.
We have an open house/health fair on Sat Aug 20th beween 8.30-11.30am. Elizabeth Smart will be there and giving a talk. We will have rides for the kids, face painting and free health screenings. Also a 5k run for anyone interested and a tour of our beauitful building.
