Christmas Cards and Special Ornaments

Just wanted to show our christmas card for this year. We kinda had to do two batches of different cards this year. This above was was way cute but way expensive. Like 78.00 for 30 cards. So we just sent them to family overseas and a few family members here. Above is the front and below was our last family picture taken last christmas day with my mum in it. Her last picture with her family. They were beauitful cards but for friends what i did was scan the picture and then order a bunch from walgreens. They turned out really nice also and i was happy with the results of them also. So it all turned out well and everyone that we wanted to send a card too we were able too.

Me and my mum talked last year and she wanted me to do something special for the kids so they would always remember her at the holidays. (like we would ever forget) I suggested an ornament and she loved the idea. Of course i told her at the time that i wouldnt have to do it for years yet. We both knew but didnt want to face it i guess. But anyway this is what i did. I used the picture that was on her funeral program. I figured it was one she had choosen for that and so it must be a picture that she really liked of herself. I had myself one made, my dad and each of my six kids. I also had my brother and wife one made and each of there three boys. Walgreens messed up on the order so sent me six extra for free. So those i gave to some people in england that were very special to her and had a close relationship with. I mailed the england ones and swore everyone to silence until after thanksgiving. On thanksgiving when we were all going around the table saying what we were thankful for i got them out and when it was my turn i passed them around. As you can guess everyone totally loved them. It always touches me how close my kids were to her when she lived so far away. She was always there for them and they knew how much she loved them and wanted to be with them at every event and would be when she could. She even flew out for one of there graduations. Heathers in fact. Her high school. There grandparents here in st george couldnt even make Heathers at dixie when she graduated and they were three mins away and she was there first ever grandaughter to graduate college. So that was a special graduation as it was nice for one of our kids to have a grandparent there to support them. But she was proof indeed that distant has nothing to do with closeness and a bond beween children and there grandparents. She was always my kids biggest fans and why they all made arrangements to be at her funeral in jan even tho it was thousands of miles away. I am grateful my kids got to grow up and know how much she loved them and for them to have the relationship she did with them. They will carry that though there whole lifes.

The pictures dont do it justice. The lights kinda strange in it, but hopefully you get the idea of how beauitful they are. And just like she wanted, they will think of her every christmas when they put this keepsake ornament on there tree.

I think we need to have a family meeting to find out who this seventh kid is!
