Well our days of visiting Hayley in Jan in Hawaii are over it seems. Now we have to go to colder places then where we are living to see her. lol. We had the chance to go to Branson to see a Christmas Show and decided to do a Muti City trip. I will do in two posts. This is the Branson side of the trip and I will do Washington DC and Hayley tomorrow. Well little did we know that the Midwest was going to have the worse snow and ice storms on the weekend we were flying in. First we had worried all Nove if this trip would happen due to Ralphs medical problems and then we had to worry about the weather. Ralph being the ex scout master he is took an extra suitcase full of emergency blankets, chains, wood and stuff to start fires, snacks and water. Anyway we not knowing the area booked our flight into Little Rock which is about 150 miles from branson. We later found out there are two airports in branson, lol. But both of those were closed due to the weather so we were lucky we didn't fly in there. But what does that tell ya right?? lol. Yup we heard from friends stuck there that Branson was pretty much shut down on Thursday night, right as we were heading to airport for the red eye. We really expected Little rock to be closed but by some miracle it wasn't. We even got upgraded to first class. Something we deserved after out crazy month. We arrived at slc airport and flew out at one am in the morning, after working all day of course. We arrived in little rock at 8.00am Friday morning to ice rain and a total shut down of the state, just like branson. Everyone was told to stay home and stay off the roads. Hmm, well we got our rental car and off we went. Remember Ralph only had the use of one arm still due to his pacemaker so it was pretty scary. No one was on the roads, all gas stations were closed and we only saw a couple of other cars. We saw about six huge walmart and fedex trucks on there sides tho. Lovely!!! It took six hours to drive 150 miles. We finally found one gas station that was open which was lucky as my bladder was about to break at that time. During this whole time I was getting text msgs from friends in branson. Three were suppose to have left that morning but couldn't due to airports being closed there. All were stuck in condo, hotels etc and had been without food for two days. My other friend Ashley had driven in also and couldn't leave her hotel but luckily she is seeing Jay os at this time and he came and got her out of her hotel and to his condo where he was staying with his kids. (yup im talking about jay os, have kept it quite for two months but most people know now, not sure where it will go but its not my story to tell). As we got closer to branson we could see cars trying to get out. That made us feel so much better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol. We finally got into branson and made out way to our hotel, they were surprised to see us as no one was getting in lol. We then had to leave to rescue Lynn. Lynn is my friend who has cancer and the uk fans got her to branson for one last time to see the Os. I will do a post on her when I have caught up, shes a very special person. I had sent her spending money for branson but wasn't expecting to ever meet her, due to weather she was trapped so we got to spend the weekend together. She had been without food for 2 days, just water, couldn't even take her pain meds without food and was hurting pretty bad. She also had caught a bad chest infection which put her in the hospital on her return to Uk. We somehow got to her and took her to lunch, shopping for food and then put her in the hotel room next to us where two of my other friends were still there due to weather and cancelled flights, Barbara and Patti. Ashley had tried to get to lynn also that day but had been unable due to her car being stuck in snow. I then took lynn to get a ticket for that nights show so she could go with me that evening. That was bitter sweet. On the one hand I was thilled she was going with me and I had met her, on the other I knew ashey was trying to get me backstage and my being with lynn would stop that. But I felt I had a duty to help lynn and I was thilled to spend time with her of course. The show was wonderful. After the show the brothers and the lenon sisters came out and talked to us all for about an hour and a half, that was just as much fun as the show. After that and having been up for over 40 hours by that time, I slept like a baby. The rest of the weekend was fun. Spending time with my friends and that evening Ralph came to the show with me. Ashley tried to get me back stage that night but it didn't happen due to weather and them having to leave fast. And plus we had to drive lynn to springfield airport for her early morning flight. Three hour round trip. Sad thing was ralph and I was suppose to go to church with Ashley the next day (and jay was going with her:} I had been looking forward to it for two weeks. Well due to weather all churchs in branson cancelled. lol. yea I have all the luck right!! Its all good tho. We had a wonderful time. Sunday after breakfast with Ashley we headed back to little rock. We spent the night there by airport and then headed out at 4.00am to Washington DC. Although the weather sucked and we spent a lot of time driving and helping people, and I didn't get to go to chuch with the os and Ashley like planned, I still had an amazing time. We both fell in love with branson and will go again next year. Here are some pics and a little info on them.
Ok these two pics are of me and Ashley. Shes a really sweet gal and have been great friends for around three months. In fact we text for around three or four hours every day, we are that close. Love her and hope things work out for her with jay. These next two pics are of the people I wasn't suppose to see this time around but am thilled I did. Barbara from Georgia, Lynn from Yorkshire uk and patti from sunny florida. Love these ladies.
Above pic was when they came out and spent an hour and a half talking to us after the show. It was wonderful they took that time out for us on such a cold night. That's the lenon sisters and jay.
On the road to get lynn, saw the sign for the show. Our hotel was next door to the Moon River where the shows was, very helpful.
Me and lynn, at lunch when we arrived. Had been up around 30 hours at that time. lol.
Some pics of the show, the story behind this is that before andy Williams died he asked the os to take over his Christmas show and keep it going every year. This was the first year, it will be a tradition for us, it was wonderful. And hopefully next year I can go to church with them as it fell though this year. lol.
Pics of jay and below pics of them all.
Jay played Drummer boy, it was amazing. You can see it on my homepage on facebook, if you scroll down.
This above pic was amazing, the twist at the end is that the person making them dance was a guy standing on his hands under them, crazy.
Just wonderful, that's all I can say. Cant wait for next year. I have around three hundred pics and just grabbed the first few I liked. One day I will look at them all. lol.
