We were really excited waking up for the second part of our trip. We had to be up at 3.00am but we were just fine with that. I got offered first class again but this time it was just me so I declined so I could be with Ralph. Not sure why the airlines liked me so much this trip!! We were so excited rushing to see the kids and Ian and I just grabbed him and hugged and hugged him, he just laughed and laughed. Such a happy baby!!! We went to breakfast and then to there home. They are living in Maryland right now but are in fact moving to an Air Force Base in Washington DC this weekend. We had a really fun four days. Ralph and I went into Washington to see the sights. It was a snow day which was kinda crazy as there was no snow when we got there. Worse part of that was the bathrooms were all shut. Many women were in a panic about that inc myself. I finally had to go behind a shed, not fun!!!! For those of you that know me, know I don't do that!! Added to that it was freezing cold. BUT, that said we had a wonderful day there. Wish it had been warmer on the trip as there was so much more we wanted to do. But luckily the kids will be based there for three years so we will get plenty of time to explore there. Its fun for us having them live in different places as we are seeing a lot. We spent time Christmas shopping for Ian and we also went to the military hospital there that Aaron works at. Walter Reed. It was very humbling seeing the many many people that had no legs. They were just young kids, some had young wifes with them. So heartbreaking. It really brought home what our military does for us. Never forget what they do for us. This hospital made it all very very real. I just wanted to cry there. We also went to visit the Washington temple. We brought a huge pic of it when we were first married and its been on our wall for 28 years. Last year I took it to my office at work and its on my wall there. It was really nice finally seeing it for real. Anyway there are tons of pictures of Ian. lol. Cant get enough of that boy. Hope you like our pictures.
This is ian crawing into our room every morning. Such a good wake up call every day. He was so happy to see us. lol.Below are some pics of our day in Washington area.
Driving in and seeing the Temple for the first time. Such a thill. I had not even thought about it being there and seeing it, I was so excited to see the kids. And Wham, there it was. The pictures didn't show its full glory of when you drive in and see it on the hill. And this was a snow day also. Good thing about that was that Aaron got two days at home with us while we were there.
Below taken at the hospital. Hayley was getting her eyes checked.
At Olive Garden. Yummy!! So fun spending time with the kids and Ian.
My last day with my sweetie Ian, so sad. I wont see him again till May for Heathers wedding.
After temple we went to Red Robin for lunch.
Hanging our one day at there home. I was playing with Ian and had no idea Grandpa had camera on us.
Now I did, so off came the glasses. lol.
More pics of the four days we spent in Washington.
Don't you love the snow that created a govt shut down, which resulted in no bathrooms being open for like a ten mile round circle?
Not sure what Roxy was doing here.
Me and my sweetie Hayley. Shes my only daughter the same height as me, Lucy and Heather take after the powells, Hayleys all mine. lol.
It was a wonderful trip, even tho we usually are used to visiting them in winter in Hawaii, lol. We are going to have full exploring the east coast and seeing them there the next three years.
