Its crazy to think my oldest son is turning 32 today. I can remember being lots younger then that myself. lol. Anyone my age really knows how you really dont know where the years went. Here i am 52!!!!!!!!!!But anyway i remember finding out i was pg with Lee like it was yeserday. I was too scared to call the doctor for the results so made my mum call for me. lol. So yeah she knew before i did. lol. She called me at the bank i worked at in London and i just rememeber standing there in shock and telling everyone around me. Im Pg! I was in shock. Then someone said. Hmm dont you think you should call Ted! lol. So i did. I remember my mother going on a knitting binge like she did everytime i was pg and buying up the whole of London. You were the best dressed baby in London in 1980. And had all the best stuff that babies need. I remember i had to go in the hospital two weeks before you were born as my BP was high and that night i lay in the hospital bed all alone so scared about having a baby the next morning all alone. Next morning came and they broke my waters around 9.00am. The whole day was just a scary day. I was alone for the birth as they only allowed fathers and Ted was too scared to be there. lol. It was a hospital that did natural births and you had midwifes. Doctors were only called in if you were high risk. Most of the day i was alone with my pain and they only came in right before you were ready to be born. It was a busy place. The midwifes were running (yes running) from room to room trying to catch everyone when they were ready for baby to come out. I remember them telling me off. That i had torn because i had pushed when i was alone. And then you were born. They wrapped you in a hot pink blanket cause they couldnt find a blue one. (how dumb) and they gave you to me and i couldnt belive how beautiful you was and i couldnt belive i had done this and you were mine. A few hours later as they were wheeling me out to the general ward Ted arrived with my parents and his step mum. I remember yelling across the hallway to them. Theres my baby! Im sure they were confused to see you in a hot pink blanket. lol. I remember them giving you to Ted and he walked you to the ward i was going too behind them pushing me. I remember hearing him saying. Deb looks half dead!!!!!!!!!! lol. His mum said. Well! So would you! lol. Rooms to yourself was if you had a c section but somehow thats all they had that night and i got my own room. Tho the bathroom i had to share with about 20 other people. Very hard to find bathroom time. Back then in england in 1980 for a reg birth you stayed in eight days and three weeks for a c section. Yeah really. lol. Crazy i know. But i didnt know a thing about taking care of a baby so it was nice to have that as the whole week was a teaching experience. Visting time really sucks over there and still does as i know my dad had it the same way when my mum was in hospital the week before she passed away. Over there its an hour at lunch time and an hour in the evening. Thats it and only three vistiors at a time. So being in my own room was very lonely as they dont have tvs and dont have phones. So i couldnt call anyone and couldnt watch tv. They had a general room where everyone could go watch tv but i didnt want to leave Lee so didnt go. Nurserys were only for high risk babies so Lee never left my side from word go and was with me 24/7 which i prefered anyway. I had tons of flowers delivered. One bigger then my bed almost from my co workers at the bank and from my many family members. My room was full of flowers which i loved and they all lasted the week. I remember my sweet Nan coming to visit and her fave saying always was. Oh What a family! lol. Her first words was Oh he looks like one of mine! She had 11 kids and all had thick black hair. The Vickers also had thick black hair too.
When we went home when he was a week old i had to sit in the back of the car with him on my lap. That was the safely for babies in 1980. No seat belts for anyone in back of cars then. I remember walking you though stratford london in your fancy pram with a big smile on my face. I was sure everyone knew i had a brand new baby in there. lol. Stratford London is where the olympic villiage is for this month. We were both so proud of you and loved you so much.
Anyway i want to try for each of my kids birthdays record my memorys of there first few days or week. That way they will have it if they want it.
Happy Birthday Lee. Although you ended up being rasied by a different Daddy it just means you had more people that loved you. We love you so much and are so proud of the adult you have become. You work so hard for your family and are such a wonderful Husband and a terrific father. Your kids are so lucky to have you for there Daddy.
Have A Wonderful Day.
Happy Birthday.
