Travel Woes

Our family has done a lot of traveling this past year. But we also have had a lot of travel delays due to flights, weather or sick people. lol. It started in March when Ralph, Cory and I were sitting on a plane at Heathrow London. It started to cruise out and then someone got sick. They had to see to him, get his bags out of cargo and then cart him off in an ambulance. That took over an hour of us sitting there. Just as we started to leave again someone started acting kinda strange and loud. He was drunk. So they opened the doors again, got his bags out of cargo and after another hour or so we were off. (but not before we had to wait to fill those two seats with new people). When we arrived close to chicago the weather was so bad we had to circle around for a few hours. We finally landed after being on that plane for around 12 hours. Five hour delay and then we were off to slc. We arrived back at our home at 5.15am on a monday morning. 30 hours of traveling and just a couple of hours before i had to be at work. That was one long day at work!!! Next came Lucy. She ended up spending the whole night alone in San Fran due to plan problems. So her lay over ended up being like 16 hours or more. Then came my dad. His flight started to leave out of slc and then there was a loud bang. It broke. He spent 12 hours in slc and then was able to leave on another flight home. Not to be outdone a week later we dropped Hayley off at airport, got home and then we got a call from her. Her flight had been delayed and she wasnt leaving till next morning now. Back to the airport to get her and back again at 4.00am in morning, lol. Then Lee and Carole went and had no problems. Oh wait they drove to Seattle!!!!!!!!!!!!! By now no one wanted to be left out. Jay and Emmalee got stuck at dallas airport all day waiting for a flight that never happened. They ended up spending the night in a hotel there and trying again the next day. But last of all of course Heather and Dan had to top it all!!!!!!! They went to Ma to visit Dans family and go to two weddings out there. They had an earthquake the first week and then Hurriane Irene this past weekend. Of course that pushed there flight back four days. lol. Isnt that just insane how much problems we have had. Of course Ralph and i had five more flights this year with no problems and some were not airplanes problems but just insane the problems we have all had. I think what i have learnt it to always book a few days if possible beween arrival home and going back to work. Thats what ive been doing since. But that said we still all love to travel and these problems certainly wont stop any of us traveling. We have all kinds of travel coupons beween the bunch of us for delays. lol.
