Happy 18th Birthday Cory

Wow! Its really been 18 years? Cory started his life off with a bang. He was born 3 weeks early but that was though to have resulted from an infection i caught from those wonderful day care kids. He spent the first four or five days in the baby ICU which was called Level 2 back then so he wasnt able to be in the room with me. They said he had also caught the infection from those darlings i tended!!! and that it had affected his heart which was larger then it should have been, he also had a mumor which they said he would grow out of. Anyway he didnt come off meds until he was 18 months old. Always had infections of one kind or another. Had tubes also (another infection) at age 4 months due to getting an ear infection at a week old (from the darlings) and still having it at 4 months. The more tubes at 17 months. At 18 months we finally got him off meds for infections but then the heart mumor got worse and they found a hole in his heart. That grew from 13m to 26m in a year so they finally did open heart surgery to close it. Five weeks later one of the darlings pushed him down our stone steps and he hurt his chest so back he was again, lol. After that hes led a pretty healthy life until last sept when his lung collapsed and it was found he has a chest deformity as well as lungs. After two weeks in the hospital and his lung collasped four more times they transfered him to the heart and lung hospital in murray and fixed his left lung. That shouldnt give him any more problems hopefully. But yeah his right lung could (and then again might not) go at any time. Lovely huh! BUT Cory is an amazing person and never moans about his heart (which he will always have to have checked) and lungs or anything else. He is ready to start his senior year in school (we held him back in kindergarden), has a job and has a girlfriend!! Yeah we were always grateful none of our kids were dating in hs but i guess Cory has to be different then everyone else. But he is happy with his life and we are very very happy to have him as our son. Hes a great person, very caring and very easy going. He is trying to decide on joining the National Guards (if they will take him with his health problems) or if he should go on a mission. We have never been one to push our kids into missions as we like them to decide on that as its a big decison. (hense lee and jay going at 20). So whatever he decides we will stand by him a hundred per cent. We know he will make the right decison for him. The doctor that did his lung surgery last year also told us to contact him if he goes on a misison as he wants to make sure he would go on a mission where there is good medical care in case needed. But anyway he is a wonderful person and we are very grateful to be able to call him our son and so glad he has always come though his health problems with flying colors. We are excited to have him so close to finishing hs and to see what the future holds for him.

Happy Birthday Cory.
