I needed to tell this story before i forget it. Two years ago my cousin Kenny was battling cancer, his mum Joyce is my mums older sister. He had a love for sunflowers and would always grow them. Since he passed away two years ago my Aunt Joyce always has sunflowers in her house. When my mum went to Bulgeria last Oct she brought a darling picture of sunflowers for her sister to hang next to kennys picture on the wall. Joyce of course totally loved it as she said sunflowers always remind her of Kenny. Okay the second part of the story is that when my mum found out she had cancer and was terminal she went out with my dad and brought a Flamingo tree. She planted it with my dad in the middle of there back yard last summer 2009. She told my dad that every year when it bloomed he could think and remember her. He of course in his joking way told her.Like i could bloody forget you!!!!
Anyway my dads been very busy this year, he was out here for almost a month, then five days after getting home he went to Bulgeria with my brother Steve and family for a month. He just got home last week. On his return he went out to the back yard to check on things, keep in mind he has lived there six years, has planted everything in that little yard and knows it totally. The first thing he saw took his breath away. In the middle of the yard the Flamingo tree was in full bloom in all its glory but what took his breath away was the surprise of about ten sunflowers that had somehow grown all around it and beween it. Hes never planted them and last year the flamingo tree never had them around it. He claims he knows this yard well and thereve never grown up in the six years hes lived there. It really choked him up as he knew that somehow Mum and Kenny had got together and had sent the flowers around the tree to let him know they were still there watching over him.
I belive hes right dont you?
On another sad note my Aunt Joyce just lost another of her sons last month. His funeral was while my dad was out here. Its very sad shes lost both her sons. Both were in there early fiftys. Her other son Phillip had caught something from another country and he couldnt beat it. Our heart goes out to her. And for those of you wondering yes her first name is Joyce and yes my mums marriage surname to my dad is also Joyce.
Wow... what a beautiful story! I got chills and tears! I love life and stories like that - how can you not believe their is an afterlife?! Beautiful...
ReplyDeleteI guess my dad had also brought some sunflowers home from bulgeria for her and had them in his house. They were fake and looked real and even had like raindrops on them. It gave me the chills when he told me this story.
