Last week was quite the week for our family and hospitals it seems. We had Leland and Leanna over sunday and Monday while there mommy was in the hospital. They were really good and had a blast playing with Jayson on sunday and then sleeping over with us. They had never done that before and I was worried they would be sad but they were great and slept great. Instead of them keeping me awake like I thought. It was Ralph that kept me awake. Around five am Monday morning I hear this big crash in the bathroom and I guess Ralph had blacked out in there or something. He came back to bed and said he would call doc in the morning. Backing up abit he had seem a doctor for a routine physical three weeks before and had been told to follow up with a cardio doc due to having a electrical blockage in his heart. Sounds worse then it is. Its really not anything major and with it and meds you lead a normal life. Anyway off to work he went and I had the day off to play with the kids. When the kids were down for a nap I called him and he didn't sound good at all. He said he was going to drive home and I could take him to the ER. He was on 21st south. Not a great idea to drive home when your trying not to black out. That was pretty dumb of him. He had a really hard time driving home as he just felt like he was going to pass out. Dan works two mins from him and could have easily have brought him home. But Ralph is Ralph and he drove himself home. I took him to the ER where he said he felt tons better. Oh backing up a bit I had to call Lee and have him get the kids while Ralph was driving home. Cory luckily was here and watched them until Lee got here. Hated doing that to them as Carole needed her rest but I didn't know what else to do. Anyway at the hospital once he was all hooked up to mointers it shown his heart rate was all over the place. Jumping from 30-170 in seconds and often missing a few beats. The nurse called people in quick and about five people came in, giving orders to put another IV in, get crash cart in here and put paddles on just in case. I knew all what they were doing was IN CASE and as I used to work in a hospital years ago i was often in emergency situations and know how to look calm even if i don't feel it. But that did scare me and i tried not to show it. I text Heather and just said. Can you come. Dads doing odd stuff. She knew from my text i was really freaking out inside and called me right away. She was on her way to work at Alta view hospital in sandy. She asked what was going on. I had a hard time talking as i was trying to stay calm, she knew right away that she needed to come (after all she spends her work days in the er also). I was trying to stay calm as i didn't want to stress or scare Ralph with what was going on. With Heather on her way it was just really watching his heart rate jumping all over the place. I knew that crash cart and paddles were in place as they were worried his heart would stop with what was happening. I just didn't know what to expect. But managed to sit away from them and let everyone do there job and look calm even if i didn't feel it. Heather came and it was after she arrived that his heart rate went to normal. Arrangements were made to transport him to the murray heart and lung center. (wonderful place, its where Cory spent two weeks two years ago). Cory also arrived at riverton hospital with dads backpack and some things he needed. We were transported by ambulance and yes once again i did the ambulance ride beween riverton and murray hospital, this time with Ralph not Cory. That trip is getting way old!!!!!!! We arrived and it was just the waiting game. Heather and Dan arrived to sit with us. The doctor finally came in and told us his condition just needed some meds and he could live a normal life and live another 50 years. So that was good news. Dan and Heather took me home (cory had walked to riverton hospital earlier and took my car home) and we had a very late late dinner. Next morning i called Ralph. He said that his heart had been doing the fast heart rate all night so with people in his room all night he hadn't slept much. He also had had an echo the night before after we left. They had offered to let me sleep there but as it wasn't major and i knew he was going to be okay i had decided to sleep in my own bed. Anyway went to the hospital in the morning and we did the waiting game beween tests and everything. Carole, Lee and the kids came and visited. Poor Carole couldn't have felt well having just got out the hospital herself. They finally came and did a Nuclear Stress Test. Finally after hours of sitting around they said it was normal. They gave him the choice of staying in the hospital while they watched him longer or going home and wearing a heart moniter for a few weeks and recording BP every day. You can guess which one he picked. We called Jay who was due to come over to give him a blessing and visit and let him know that he was getting discharged and we would catch him later and got ready to leave. Cory and his girlfriend Dani came over and picked us up. We left and after getting all the scripts from walmart crashed for the night. I think we both slept 12 hours that night. We both took Wednesday off work just to relax and both went back to work on Thursday. Thank you everyone for all your phone calls and support. We did get some offers of meals but declined them. I never got meals after my two major surgerys and manged to cook still so as its Ralph this time i think i can still cook. lol. Plus hes not down or anything. Back to normal for him. Im glad it turned out to be something simple. His heart and everything looked good. Anyway that is our drama for the week. Now trying to catch up at work which is always impossible it seems lol. My work waits for me when im gone. lol. Heres a few pictures.
