A Trip Down Memory Lane

Last night we went to Lucys old high school to see her old drill team do there yearly showcase. We figured we would do it for a couple of reasons, first its the last year some of the girls from her last team were dancing, (there now seniors) and second they were doing a tribute to Astra who passed away five months ago yeserday. It was a very bittersweet night with lots of memorys of Astra but we really enjoyed being there. The girls dancing was amazing of course, afterall they have won state 7 times out of the last 9 years. (of course they were cheated out of it in 2009 so should be 8 times in 9 years but whatever). I loved there routines and really enjoyed seeing this team dance once again. You never get over how skilled they are. It certainly is a team that has shaped the way Lucy dances today. I never have to have one of my own daughters dance to enjoy watching a team dance, i guess i just love to watch dance. I know i enjoy seeing the teams lucy teaches as much as i enjoy seeing her dance with her Rebs. If someone knows how to dance then i enjoy watching it. But it was a great evening and was so nice meeting up with the old girls and of course meeting up with the mothers again that we used to spend so much time with. I think there friendships weve always have even tho we dont see them like we used too. Lucy and some of the old team members went out on the floor to do headstands and yup she can still do them, of course not im a busy fast dance miltary routine like she used too but she still pulled it off. lol. Which is a good thing as teaching a high school drill team she kinda might need to teach her girls that. lol. But we really enjoyed the evening. Great routines to watch, great friends to catch up with and great sweet memorys of our dear Astra who will always be in our thoughs as the years go by.I loved the song the girls did a dance for her too. It was to Celine Dion and she wrote the song herself and its called Fly. Her own niece died in her arms of CF just like astra and she wrote the song for her niece. The girls did a great job. What a great program it is and how lucky Lucy was to have been part of it for three years when so many girls want to be and dont make the team. Oh one of the girls mom is one of the hosts from Good things Utah so we had the hosts there doing the evening which was really nice. Anyway way to go girls, bring it home again next year for the 8th time.
